Cognos Search And Replace

Search and Replace for Cognos

Find specific text and images across Cognos assets and then mass update them

MotioPI Professional's Search & Replace component gives you a more efficient method for mass updating Cognos BI content.

Most of you have experienced the following scenario: "We've refactored a few things in the FM Model, now we need to go fix every single report which depends on it." This can be a very time consuming and tedious activity, especially if there are a large number of reports.

MotioPI Pro's Search and Replace feature was built with exactly this scenario in mind.

Search and Replace enables you to batch update content both inside the Content Store (reports, queries, analysis objects, etc.) and outside the Content Store (XML files, CPF files, etc.).

PI Pro's Search and Replace feature allows you to specify "target" text/images and "replacement" text/images. You can then tailor the scope of affected BI content (Public Folders, My Folders, outside the Content Store, which types of objects), and then preview all matches (with the option to include/exclude each match).

PI Pro also supports validation of the target objects both before and after the replacement, as well as backup of the original content.

Watch the following video demonstrating MotioPI Pro's Search & Replace feature.

"When our Dev content store crashed, we had just implemented MotioCI four months prior. If we had not had MotioCI, we would have been in a really, really bad situation. Right there, it paid for itself. We would have lost months worth of development effort that was only in the Dev environment...

"I know of one instance several weeks ago where a set of reports went missing off the development environment and a ticket was submitted for the BACC support team. We were able to quickly show them how you can just restore the missing reports using MotioCI and their panic was over. It's...
